The presence of articles related to fundamental rights, fundamental duties, universal adult franchise, single citizenship, directive principles of state policy, Independent bodies, etc in the Indian Constitution makes it unique from the Constitutions of other countries.With several amendments thereafter, currently, there are about 470 articles divided into 25 parts, 12 schedules, and a preamble in the Indian Constitution. Originally at the time of commencement, the Indian Constitution consisted of a preamble, 395 articles divided into 22 parts, and 8 Schedules.Most of the articles and provisions present in the Indian Constitution are borrowed from the Constitutions of several countries around the world. The constitution of India was adopted on 26th November 1949 and came into force on 26th January 1950. The Constitution of India is the lengthiest written Constitution in the World.
